The 6th International Conference "Instrumental Methods of Analysis-IMA" is a five-day scientific meeting covering all areas of modern trends and applications of Chemical Analysis.

For the last TEN years IMA has provided an excellent framework for the presentation of new concepts, instruments, methods, systems, and applications in the area of modern chemical analysis. Researchers and scientists from universities, research institutions, state organizations, and the industry come together during the meeting to present their experience in the current state of the art in the area of instrumental methods of analysis. At the same time, it provides the grounds for the graduate and post graduate students to present their projects, discuss scientific collaborations with other groups, as well as to explore employment opportunities.

The First IMA Conference (IMA 1999), held in Chalkidiki in 1999, was a significant success since it hosted more than two hundred scientists from 24 countries around the world. It was the first time that such an International Conference on Analytical Techniques and Instrumentation took place in Greece under the cooperation of the leading Institutions in this field.

The Second IMA Conference (IMA 2001) took place in Ioannina, during which the number of participants increased considerably.

The Third IMA Conference (IMA 2003) took place in the city of Thessaloniki, where almost 250 scientific papers were presented from scientists from all over the world.

The Forth IMA Conference (IMA 2005) took place in Iraklion, Crete, where more than 300 participants were present with a considerable number of invited lectures as well as oral and poster presentation.

The Fifth IMA Conference (IMA 2007) took place in Rio, Patras and was a successful continuation of all previous conferences.

The Sixth IMA Conference (IMA 2009) will be held in Athens, the capital of Greece. The event will be organized by the Laboratories of Analytical Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) with the support and cooperation of all Analytical Laboratories of  Greek Universities.
